It's been a hell-ish season on Penny Dreadful and fans can expect some major intensity as the creepy series comes to a finale on Sunday.

'Penny Dreadful' & BAFTA Recognition Chatter

On Friday, IGN shared an interview with series creator John Logan who opened up on the showdown that's about to take place after Evelyn's frightening escapades on Vanessa. When the season finale airs, it sounds like Evelyn is going to show just how evil she can truly be.

"There's nothing subtle about Evelyn Poole and those witches," Logan said. "So I think fans can expect a rather thunderous conclusion to that story. And I thought it would be a wonderful resolution for Vanessa Ives to have look into the eyes of Vanessa Ives. To face her darkest fears and the enchantments within her."

Vanessa Gives In To Demons On 'Penny Dreadful'

As Vanessa has her own demons to face, the creator also dished on the death of Sembene and how it blends into what this season was about.

"I certainly don't ever feel like killing off people for artificial reasons," Logan said. "It just came naturally from the story. And a lot of that has to do with what happens in this upcoming last episode. Because the larger story of the season was always going to be that these characters- these disparate characters- are drawn together and become much more of a family unit."

The Penny Dreadful Season 2 finale airs on Sunday, July 5 on Showtime.
