The romantic relationships in the Fast and Furious franchise have been pretty ideal, with unbreakable connections between Dominic (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster). We wonder if there is scope for switching things up a bit and causing some tension.

The Wire's Idris Elba To Join Fast and Furious 8?   

Rumors have been flying about a third wheel in Dominic and Letty's relationship if Eva Mendes returns as Monica Fuentes in Fast and Furious 8, and new reports are only adding fuel to the speculation. It would be interesting to see Dominic ignore the fiesty Fuentes and stay true to Letty. In Too Fast Too Furious, Mendes' character was drawn to O'Connor. But as O'Connor's character arc has been concluded, could Fuentes set her sights on the next best man in the crew i.e. Dominic?

Alas, all this plotting and planning is still in the realm of rumor mills. There has been no official word about Mendes returning to star in the Furious 7 sequel.

Furious 7 Should Win Best Picture Oscar, According To Vin Diesel     

In a recent interview, Rodriguez also addressed the rumors about Mendes' return. The actress was very wary about such speculation, and suggested that fans should take everything with a pinch of salt until production for the movie begins. More interestingly Mendes was rooting for a greater ideal of feminism in Fast and Furious 8.

"I think that first off, girls should stop fighting each other and we should start uniting for once," she said. "That's how I feel about that. Secondly, I think that everything is speculation until we actually shooting and we're immortalising stuff on film."

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
