Danica Patrick announced Tuesday on her Facebook page that she is divorcing from Paul Hospenthal after seven years.

"I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage," Patrick wrote on her Facebook Tuesday afternoon.

"This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward," she said.

Patrick, 30 and Hospenthal, 47, who is a physical therapist, met while he was treating her for an injury. They married in 2005 and have no children.

Patrick was named the most popular driver in NASCAR's Nationwide series on Monday, a fan-voted award. In this year's Nationwide season, Patrick finished on 10th place, becoming the female driver with the highest finishing ever in any one of NASCAR's three national touring series.
