Outlander will not set up a knockout, drag-out love triangle between Claire, Jamie, and his French ex in season 2.

In fact, unlike many series, Outlander will allow the Highlander's former girlfriend and his current wife to get along swimmingly.

"It's kind of nice," Caitriona Balfe (Claire) told TV Line at San Deigo Comic-Con. "I think Claire and her sort of bond. It's nice that we have someone from Jamie's past come in and yet the girls can be friends too."

Annalise de Marillac (Margaux Chatelier) will make her first appearance in Versailles. Jamie's (Sam Heughan) former flame is described as "beautiful and intelligent and blond," and Heughan has confirmed that there will be some residual feelings between the two - platonic feelings.

"It think there's a friendship," Heughan explained. "I mean, as I said, I haven't played those scenes yet but I think there is definitely a bond and a connection there. It will be interesting to play."

Besides, Jamie and Claire will soon have a baby to worry about. No one needs an old heartthrob stirring up trouble on the eve of their child's birth.
