There have been strong suggestions of one of the sequels to Transformers: Age of Extinction taking place in cybertron, with Optimus Prime off to meet his creator, which begs the question: who will play the leader of the Transformers on Earth?

Could A Transformers Sequel Be Set In Cybertron With New Characters?

Reports hint at Ultra Magnus making for the most likely candidate and this might mean that he would play a pivotal role in a sequel if it were to place on earth without Optimus Prime. A new report by Christian Today states that Magnus has always played Optimus Prime's second-in-command in the comic books. It is also being rumored that Ultra Magnus will lead the battle against his long-running enemy Megatron and the Decepticons, who will be doubly enforced.

In fact earlier this year, reports revealed that the Quintessons will ally with the Decepticons as Ultra Magnus joins the Optimus Prime's crew.

Will Megan Fox Join The Age of Extinction Sequel?

With a very strong writing team currently working on the future of the Transformers franchise, a whole set of sequels for the movies have also been suggested. So it is very likely that one movie and storyline might be spared for cybertron.

The team wis being led by Akiva Goldsman, and features Christina Hodson (The Fugitive), Lindsey Beer (Dig), Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Jeff Pinker (Lost), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Michael Bay is mostly likely directing and Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he will returning for Transformers 5.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
