Bonnie hasn't had the best luck in the romance department in the last six seasons, but that seems to be changing now moving forward.

On Sunday TVLine reported that Bonnie's friendship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) would continue to flourish, which seems to be it for this oddly matched duo. Fans have been speculating for a while that they might find romance with each other, but that doesn't seem to be the direction the writers of the show are heading in.

On Monday the site further divulged via an interview with some of the cast and an executive producer, which can be seen below, some more insight on Bonnie's future love life.

"Bamon [Bonnie and Damon's ship name from TVD fans] is actually really intense right now," Graham dished.

"Their friendship on the show is so powerful," executive producer Caroline Dries shared, adding, "It's just so fun. She grounds him. She makes him less of a homicidal maniac and he challenges her and so they just have that fun banter."

Dries added that Damon is still going to be hung up on Elena in the upcoming season and "Bonnie's going to maybe have her own love interest this year and it's not going to be Damon."

Graham isn't against the idea of her character getting romantically involved with Damon, but she did share what else she'd be down for, which includes Bonnie exploring her sexuality.

"I've pitched female witches," Graham said, adding, "I've pitched Bonnie having some discoveries, sexually, about herself."

The series returns to The CW in the fall for Season 7.
