In a new interview, Reedus made comments which could be construed as a subtle warning for fans that at some point, his character will no longer be on the canvas.

His interview was for a new project, titled Air, where he admitted that when Robert Kirkman called him to talk about being a part of it, he was scared that it was the dreaded phone call that Kirkman usually makes to cast members before they are killed off on the show.

"When your executive producer and creator calls you and goes, 'Hey, can I talk to you about something?'...I think all of us are fearing that phone call," Reedus said. "Because they're going to kill off all of us at some point."

However, as for when he could be offed, Reedus has no idea when it could come because there's no basis for his character, who was not in the original comics, meaning he has no source material to look at so he can potentially prepare himself for when he could die. As a result, he, and others like him can enjoy being there as long as they're welcome, but with the knowledge that they could be killed without warning.

"I like having the door open wide," he said. "It's fun. I like it. I'm not the only character on the show that's not from the comic book, though."

The Walking Dead season 6 premieres Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
