Todd spoke with The Wrap just hours after news hit that the show would be taken off the air.

“I don’t think that that’s a scandal. I think that’s a very sad situation that’s hurting a family that certainly needs our prayers.”

The network cancelled 19 Kids & Counting following reports that one of the children, Josh Duggar, sexually assaulted not only three of his sisters but another minority female. He was a teenager himself at the time.

While many are clapping their hands for TLC’s decision, Todd said they made the wrong move.

“I think TLC may have missed a moment. If you’re going to have a reality show that’s going to be about your family and that’s going to be about things that’s going on in your life, then there’s good, bad and ugly that goes on in everyone’s life.”

After news hit, TLC didn’t hesitate to yank the family series. Several advertisers also pulled out from buying commercials for the show.

Todd extended his prayers for the Duggars.

“What I can say is— from our family to the Duggars’— that our heart goes out to them. We wish them nothing but success in the future.”

Chrisley Knows Best has just been picked up for a fourth season. The midseason finale for seals three is set for this Tuesday July 21 at 9/8c on USA.
