Dannielynn Birkhead, the daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith, is the new face of Guess Kids, following in her model mother's footsteps.

In an interview with "Good Morning America," her father Larry Birkhead told ABC News that modeling is a way that Dannielynn can connect with Smith, the mom that she never got a chance to know.

"Dannielynn has always looked up to her mom's image and ... I think that this is kind of Dannielynn's way of paying tribute to her mom in her own special way," he said.

Birkhead has primarily raised Dannielynn by himself since Smith passed away from a drug overdose in 2007 at the age of 39. The child was only 5 months old at the time.

"To see her mom's picture next to hers as a Guess Girl and say, 'Hey, I was a Guess Kids Girl, my mommy was a Guess girl,' that might be her only connection with her mom," he added.

Smith first landed a Guess Jeans campaign in the 1990s, which eventually parlayed her into a household name. Although Dannielynn's spread is a more playful one in appearance than her mother's sexy look, she clearly has a striking resemblance to the late Smith. The Guess campaign marks Dannielynn's modeling debut.

Birkhead stated that the youngster is a cheerful kid who attends school daily while she models for fun.

"My goal for her is for her to be a child and just do what all kids do," Birkhead said.

Interesting enough, Dannielynn isn't the only child to strike a pose like her mother's. Supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Alessandra Ambrosio have also walked the runway with their little girls replicating them.

Dannielynn's Guess campaign also features Peyton Edmunds, the daughter of musician Babyface. The respective ads are slated to appear in January 2013 on both billboards and buses.
