Jamie Dornan might be one of the biggest stars in the world right now thanks to his role as Christian Grey in the blockbuster hit 50 Shades of Grey, but unfortunately he won't be bringing home any statues this awards season. The Irish-born actor has failed to receive an Emmy nomination for his role as Paul Spector in the hit BBC thriller, The Fall.

Many critics are surprised that Dornan failed to receive a nod, as he was highly applauded for his role as the father-turned-serial killer in the British series. Writer Sabienna Bowman of Bustle wrote, "In its second season, The Fall gave Dornan even meatier material to sink his teeth into, not to mention the chance to work one on one with Gillian Anderson as her Detective Stella Gibson finally caught up with Paul. Their tense conversation in the Season 2 finale was one of TV's great showdowns."

Dornan's fans on Twitter seem to be equally disappointed as many took to the social networking site to write, "Fans all know how talented ‪@JamieDornan is and how well written ‪@TheFallTV is. Emmy nomination or not," along with, "What a bummer. ‪#JamieDornan and ‪#TheFall definitely deserved an Emmy Nomination."

According to CarterMatt.com back in June, Dornan's nomination should have been a shoe-in at this year's awards ceremony.

The site wrote, "Given that this is an American awards show, he will be recognized for the U.S. broadcaster; regardless of that, Dornan should be recognized period for playing a character so dark and chilling as Paul Spector on this British crime drama. He's legitimately terrifying, and it to us is such a fall cry from where we first came to know him as Sheriff Graham on 'Once Upon a Time.'"
