Is Avery Planning To Leave Genoa City On 'The Young and the Restless' For Good?

Avery's storyline as of lately has been really unlike her character, which has shocked viewers of the soap.

Collins revealed in an interview with Soap Opera Digest what it has been like dealing with such a drastic change in her character and more.

"I've been disappointed with the story and the direction and integrity of my character for quite some time, but I was still hopeful we might all be able to turn it around," Collins revealed, adding, "Then my contract was up for renewal and I wasn't happy with their offer. I was told there was no room for discussion, which made me realize there wouldn't be much discussion for the character, either."

In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, which went on sale Friday, Collins opened up about how she decided to exit the soap and what happened with the soap's plan to have Avery lie about Joe (Scott Elrod) raping her.

Soap Central by way of the entire print interview the actress did revealed that Collins no longer felt the same connection she once did to her character due to the severe change in her personality.

"Avery isn't the character I originally fell in love with playing. And although I was trying my best to make it work, I wasn't enjoying this new version of her. I went with my gut. It was time to move on," Collins shared.

It looks like Dylan (Steve Burton) may be the last person in Genoa City that Avery speaks to before she leaves.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
