According to an E! News report, the tennis stars' breakup was confirmed just hours ago, with Dimitrov claiming their "paths split."

"We experienced wonderful moments together," Dimitrov told reporters during a press conference on Friday. "I wish her much happiness and success in life and in tennis. Now I'm concentrated entirely on the game and I'm sure the results will soon be seen…This is the summer of a new beginning for me."

Sharapova and Dimitrov reportedly began dating in early 2013, but didn't go public with their relationship until May of that year.

Just two months ago, Sharapova, who dated fellow tennis star Andy Roddick years ago, spoke highly of her partner during an interview, via the UK's Daily Mail.

"It's nice to have someone who really understands and respects [what I do] and knows the drill," she said at the time. "There are so many little variants in an athlete's career that are not always easy to explain to the outside world. So it is nice that they are aware of it and know it."

A few weeks ago, tensions reportedly boiled when Sharapova came face-to-face with Serena Williams, who had previously been linked to Dimitrov, during a tennis match, which Williams ultimately won.

Sharapova has yet to speak on the news of her split.
