MTV announced the nominees for this year's Video Music Awards a few days ago that sparked some controversy, but Miley Cyrus is hosting, which means even more controversy probably.

Cyrus has an interesting past with this awards show, having caused a lot of controversy when she performed at it in 2013 with Robin Thicke.
MTV is actually using that as a marketing tool to promote Cyrus' hosting gig this year.

In the photos below, the 22-year-old singer is in a green alien body suit with a green sandwich board sign that has black text on it that states "MTV WON'T LET ME PERFORM" on the first side and "SO I'M HOSTING THIS YEAR'S VMAs" on the second side.

A couple of days ago she shared a promo shot, in which she's in front of a green backdrop in a spandex-y outfit that has green stars adorning it. She's also rocking plenty of funky jewelry.

Then on Thursday, the singer shared a promo video, which consists of her in a sexy crop top and skirt combination with sunglasses that have rainbow designs on them.

Cyrus first attended the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 and she is now the first host since Kevin Hart hosted in 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the awards show went without a host.
The MTV Video Music Awards take place in Los Angeles on Aug. 30. What shenanigans do you think Cyrus will be up to as host?
