A memorable character from Reign is returning to the royal drama, but probably not for much longer.

When Did 'Reign' Begin Filming For Third Season?

On Saturday, Entertainment Weekly announced that Marie de Guise (Amy Brenneman) will come back for an episode in the third season. While she is known as someone who knows when to bring chaos, fans probably know her better as Mary's mother.

The site didn't mention exactly what's going to happen when Marie is there, but with all things considered, it will probably be emotional. It was previously revealed that Mary's mom is dying. Since she's making another appearance, her time has obviously not been cut yet, but perhaps her life might end in a final episode.

Is Queen Elizabeth Getting A Spy On 'Reign?'

It was also pointed out how Mary has been dealing with a lot of grief as her husband is sick and she's been cheating on him. It might be a good time for her mother to come back so she can deliver positive words of wisdom for her daughter- assuming she'll have some.

Meanwhile, audiences can also expect an "unlikely friendship" with Leith and Claude. In an interview with Talk Nerdy With Us, Jonathan Keltz (Leith) revealed what kind of connection his character will have with the princess.

"You have two people who come from completely different upbringings, with absolutely different moral standings, and goals, and compasses," the actor said. "The way that we've had to bridge those gaps because of when our lives have been in danger or in moments of vulnerability that we've witnessed each other in. I think there's definitely a connection there."

Reign Season 3 premieres on Friday, October 9 on The CW.
