Vikings Bjorn is ready to step into his father's shoes.

'Vikings' Season 4: Travis Fimmel Teases Another Brother's War, Clive Standen Isn't So Sure

The Prince of Denmark certainly has chops - everything from his leadership skills to his fighting prowess shows the makings of a future King - and Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) illness gave his eldest son a chance to shine as season 3 came to an end. That is an opportunity Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will continue to take advantage of when Vikings returns this spring.

"This is the season where he's finally come into his own and now it's about Bjorn and learning from his father, but now there's this camaraderie between the two," Ludwig explained at San Diego Comic-Con, according to IGN. "You really start to see him step up and start running things when his father initially can't. It's a really exciting time for him and also very nerve-racking."

To make it even more stressful, the young warrior will also have to go toe-to-toe with a bear. Porunn's (Gaia Weiss) departure will prompt Bjorn to embark on a spirit quest, and the harsh winter landscape will turn the hunter into the prey.

"He decides to figure out his life and go out to the woods," Ludwig teased, according to Entertainment Weekly. "And while he's there, this bear starts stalking him."

Well, it sounds like that bear is in for a rude awakening. No Viking worth his salt is going to go down without a fight.

Vikings will return to the History Channel this spring.
