Since the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction and the subsequent critical slamming, the development of Transformers 5 seemed to be in a state of disarray.

Unicorn And Galactus To Feature In Transformers 5?

Up until very recently all kinds of rumors were swirling about the fifth installment losing its key players, especially Michael Bay, who has helmed the series from the start. The feeling fans got was that the franchise was going to have to pick up the pieces and start over. It was also assumed that the initial plan of Age of Extinction kick starting a new phase in the series with a trilogy had been canned.

But over the past couple months as news from the creative room of the movie has been coming out, the speculation has been staunched. Not only are things on track as per original plans -- Bay is definitely directing and Mark Wahlberg, who played Cade in Age of Extinction, will be reprising his role -- but the producers are taking the dream team up a notch with a new fantastic team of writers who will be working on prequels and sequels for the franchise.

Title For Transformers 5 To Be Galvatron Rising?

In a recent interview with Deadline about the development of the sequel, head writer Akiva Goldsman said the team was hard at work to get everything ready before Bay jumps in. The report explicitly stated that while Bay was busy working on his next project, things were being set up so he can hit the ground running with Transformers 5.

The most recent additions to the team for Transformers 5 have been two great female writers, Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer. Hodson has worked on films like The Fugitive, The Eden Project, and Shut In, in the past. Beer has projects like Dig, Short Circuit and How to Nail An Alien under her belt. She is currently working on the reboot of The Wizard of Oz. The other writers on the team are Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Jeff Pinker (Lost), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
