The Olsen twins originally said no to the Netflix revival project Fuller House, but there could still be a chance that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may revive their role of Michelle Tanner on the show.

Jodie Sweetin Talks About Olsen Twins Not Returning For 'Fuller House'

According to Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, there is still a possibility that the famous twins could join the rest of the cast for some part of the show, which is already shooting without them.

"The Olsen Twins are teetering [on] whether or not they'll be around," he told reporters at the Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour in Beverly Hills. "There's a bunch of opportunity for them if they choose to. But they're not in the current creative."

Bob Saget Says He Won't Force Olsen Twins To Sign On

There was a lot of press when the revival series was announced on whether or not the Olsens, who got their big break on the show as infants and were on it until they were eight years old, would return along with the rest of the cast--their on-screen dad Danny (Bob Saget), on-screen Uncle Jesse (John Stamos), Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin), Joey (Dave Coulier), sisters D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) and Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and neighbor Kimmy (Andrea Barber).

The new show is scheduled to premiere next year, and tells the story of a recently widowed and pregnant D.J. (married name Fuller) as she asks Stephanie and Kimmy to move in with her to help raise her other two boys.

Sarandos also talked about why the streaming service chose to pick up the show, saying that it was appealing because it "never really went away after its network run" ended in 1995, and that the show's audience remains very "cross-generational", which has added to hopes of how it will relate to a new audience.

"It's very much the same spirit as the original, but a modern take on Full House," he said.
