Congratulations are in order for The Walking Dead star Alanna Masterson who is pregnant and expecting her first child with boyfriend, photographer Brick Stowell.

Will 'The Walking Dead' Have A Happy Ending?

The actress, who portrays Tara on the wildly popular hit series, announced the news in an Instagram post July 27, sharing a photo with her friends as she stood in a white ensemble and holding her rounded belly.

The news is great for Masterson, but it's unclear what it could mean for her character, who joined the show in the fourth season. Though Tara was initially a part of The Governor's assault on the prison, she has since found herself to become an accepted and reliable member of Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group.

She was severely injured during a supply run in the fifth season, during the same episode where Glenn (Steve Yuen) witnessed Noah's (Tyler James Williams) shockingly brutal and bloody death at the hands of walkers.

Though Tara is a reliable member of the group, the show has never hesitated when it comes to killing off strong members of the group or other main characters. It is also important to note that Tara is an open lesbian on the show--and unless a random encounter with a man is written into the script, she likely wouldn't be pregnant.

Even if a pregnancy is written in for Tara, it doesn't bode well for her fate. The last pregnant character, Rick's wife, Lori, was killed off-screen after she gave birth to their daughter, Judith.

The Walking Dead season 6 premieres on Oct. 11.
