The Syfy series will debut it's second season in September, and creative minds behind the series have decided to compound the zombie apocalypse with a nuclear one, creating a new crop of specialized zombies - the radioactive undead.

Season 2 will open just moments after the Nuclear Defense System went on online, and soon Operation Bitemark will have more to worry about that Murphy's little vanishing act.

"It's sort of like a second apocalypse hits at the beginning of the season. It's a game changer for everybody," executive producer Karl Schaefer told EnStars at San Diego Comic-Con. "It's like season 1 on steroids."

As for what new terrors the westward bound crew will encounter, Schaefer and actor Russell Hodgkinson (Doc) teased alien zombies, seaweed zombies, and presidential zombies, just to name a few.
