Supernatural's Castiel won't have to choose between Heaven at Earth as season 11 begins.

For once, the rouge angel will have little to debate when he chooses who to team up with as The Darkness threatens to wreck havoc on the world. Heaven doesn't want him, and Team Free Will needs him. It's (almost) that simple.

"I don't know what the whole season arc looks like but I can tell you at the beginning, at the outset, he is quite alienated form the angels because of his breaking out Metatron, taking Metatron and letting him escape," Collins teased at San Diego Comic-Con, according to Flicks and the City. "They're angry with him. So I think he is going to be more on the boys' side and working side by side with them than dealing with the politics of heaven."

That's the plan for now, at least. What the latter half of season 11 holds, well, only the writers could tell you. Metatron is roaming free, and a host of angelic trouble will no doubt arise when he finally makes his next move. Will Cas' loyalties have to split once again? He's chosen to back the Winchesters more often than not, and the intensely ominous nature of season 11 makes us hope the hunters' wingman stays close by.
