Beyoncé gave her take on how she is portrayed in the media and much more in the HBO documentary Beyoncé: Life Is but a Dream, which premiered Saturday, Feb. 16.

"People are brainwashed," Beyoncé said on camera. "You get up in the morning, you click on the computer [and] you see all these pictures [of celebrities]. And all you think of is the picture and the image you see all day, every day. And you don't see the human form."

Beyoncé's Life Is but a Dream is the singer's telling autobiography that gives fans a look into her public life and her life at home as both a wife and new mother. Dream includes never before seen footage of the singer's life--from personal movies that highlight Beyonce's life as a child in Houston, to intimate video diaries and concert clips.

Clocking in at just around 90 minutes, the documentary begins with photos of the singer's childhood home in Houston, Texas.

"My dad knew that I needed his approval," Beyoncé said in voice-over about her decision to become a professional singer. "And I think my father wouldn't give it to me. Because he kept pushing me. And kept pushing me. And kept pushing me. Every time my dad pushed me, I got better and stronger."

In Dream, Beyoncé discussed how she would come to fire her dad, Mathew Knowles, as her manager in 2011. She explained that she did it in order to find independence as an artist. The documentary also revealed the singer's roles as both a wife to rapper/mogul Jay-Z, and mother to Ivy Blue.

"I felt God was giving me a chance to assist in a miracle," she said about giving birth to her daughter.
