Matt Lauer told Ellen DeGeneres on Ellen that he doesn't pay that much attention to the stuff that is being said in the news, referring to the backlash that followed Ann Curry's firing from the Today Show.

Lauer addressed the lots of negative comments that he has received from the press lately. He said recenlty he met with President George Bush who advised him to not "Let the loud voices get you."

"Do you pay attention to what's being said?" DeGeneres asked referring to the bad comments.

"Not that much to be honest with you." Lauer replied. "In the beginning I did but now I don't pay attention to it anymore because there is so much to pay attention to...to be perfectly honest I just don't have time to give it much attention," he said.

"I just think that as you know, the media can be cruel, it can be very mean." DeGeneres said.

Lauer seemed to emphasize to the audience that he feels very light despite the bad press and danced with DeGeneres in the studio.

Last week, he also addressed the controversy involving Ann Curry on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno saying that "he is not a guy who complains."

Lauer has said that he loves his job and considers himself the luckiest guy in the world.

"It's been an interesting year; no question about it," said Lauer, 55. But, he added, "I am not guy who complains. I'm the luckiest guy. I love this job. I really do."
