For centuries, Mercedes-Benz has been blazing the street with its luxury cars, offering a relaxing atmosphere on an enjoyable ride. Now, the brand is set to tread on unchartered territory through its X-Class pickup concept, unveiled in Stockholm, Sweden.

During the exhibition, Mercedes-Benz showcased two versions of the truck: one in green, and the other in white equipped with a wood-trimmed interior. The company is planning to extend its ingenuity to all type of vehicles for sustainable global market growth, according to CNET.

The X-Class has been fashioned with classic features that will usher in a luxurious mood amid safari trips and other rugged outdoor activities. The pickup has a standard six-cylinder diesel engine with a full four-wheel drive, and it's expected to gain popularity in several parts of the world

The X-Class is set to accommodate five people. Mercedes-Benz's Vans head Volker Mornhinweg was quoted as saying:

"Our future X-Class will be a pickup that knows no compromise. Ladder-type frame, high-torque six-cylinder engine...As an added value we bring safety, comfort, agility, and impressive design - in other words, everything that distinguishes vehicles bearing the Mercedes star. We will thus appeal to new customers who have not considered owning a pickup before."

The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment. "We will open up and change the segment of mid-size pickups - with the world's first class gateway pickup for the convenient urban lifestyle," said Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.

The launching is scheduled to take place in late 2017.
