In November 2017, Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson accused her fiancé, David Otunga, of domestic abuse.

Hudson stated that while she was at a recording session in Chicago with her son, David Jr., Otunga made a series of phone calls to reach her. When he couldn't get in touch with her, he asked their son to record the scene.

The singer says that Otunga wanted their son to send him proof that she was dating one of her producers, which Hudson denied.

The Golden Globe winner claims that once she got home, Otunga grabbed their son by the hand and pushed her out of their bedroom. The actress also stated that her makeup artist and assistant witnessed the incident.

In legal documents, Hudson has also explained that Otunga left a gun and holster on their kitchen counter to taunt and intimidate her.

"David knows that I am and have been very sensitive to firearms after my mother and my brother were murdered by a firearm," Hudson said. Otunga said it was a movie prop.

Hudson And Otunga's Downward Spiral

Due to the alleged assault incident, the "I Still Love You" singer has stated that she is afraid of Otunga and was living in fear when the episode occurred.

She claims David has exhibited "aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior toward me."

"I am now living in fear of further action David might take," she said.

Her fear has caused to her seek an order of protection against the actor and made cops remove him from their home. According to PEOPLE, the American Idol alum, stated that her decision to seek protective order was in the best interest of their son.

According to TMZ, a year after the incident occurred, police in Burr Ridge, Illinois, have completed their investigation, and Otunga will not be charged for domestic violence.

The couple began dating in November 2008, and the lawyer decided to pop the question only a few months after dating. In November 2013, rumors surfaced that the couple was secretly married after Otunga was seen wearing a wedding band on his ring finger. After four years of being engaged, Hudson and Otunga decided to end their relationship.

Neither Hudson or Otunga have released an official statement in regard to the case. On Thursday, Otunga took to his Instagram to share a quote by Gandhi that says, "Truth is by nature self-evident. As soon as you remove the cobwebs of ignorance that surround it, it shines clear."
