Fans worldwide were left shocked as their dreams of a super-tour were created, and then dashed. On The Run 2, it seems, isn't happening.

Summer Plans Ruined

2014 saw the On The Run Tour, a collaboration between chart-stomping married couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z, take over the world. It's been four long years of waiting and finally, it appeared as though prayers have been answered.

A listing for a brand-new tour surfaced on both Ticketmaster and Bey's official Facebook page. Although neither she nor her mega-star husband confirmed such a tour existed, it didn't stop the Internet from whipping itself into a frenzy at the possibility.

Presale tickets for Beyoncé & Jay-Z — On the Run 2, a potential stadium tour, were due to drop Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. EST exclusively for Tidal subscribers. The general sale would follow on March 12. The tour was scheduled to kick off July 30 at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.

However, fans were left in distress as the listing mysteriously disappeared from Ticketmaster and Facebook almost immediately after it was noticed.

Naturally, this led to an influx of conspiracy theories from those suggesting it was a slip-up from Team Bey signaling a tour is very much on the way, or maybe even that new music from the multi-platinum singer could be due for release shortly.

Perfect Timing

Jay-Z and Beyoncé most recently collaborated on DJ Khaled's single "Top Off" alongside Future. Back in December, they worked with director Ava DuVernay on the music video for their song "Family Feud," which charts the disparities between old and new hip-hop artists. Actors including Mindy Kaling, Brie Larson, and Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan all featured in the epic, eight-minute clip for the song off the rapper's 4:44 album.

Bey and Jay have found significant success collaborating over the years, on hit songs including "Drunk In Love," "Crazy In Love," and "03 Bonnie & Clyde." The original On The Run Tour was named after a track on his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, which dropped following Beyoncé's massive, self-titled 2013 record.

The two have released other critically-acclaimed albums in the intervening years, the aforementioned 4:44 and Lemonade, respectively. Jay has also confirmed that a duet album exists.

Both albums proved to be deeply personal for the super-famous couple. Accusations of cheating emerged after some dodgy lyrics seemed to allude to Jay having been unfaithful.

"You can be in love and you can love someone, but if you haven't experienced love and you don't understand it, and if you don't have the tools to move forward, then you're going to have complications. Period," he told CNN earlier this year.
