It's a tricky balance when most of America is still social distancing despite being vaccinated or not and all that we still don't understand about the virus. But most internet providers have kept their pledge to the FCC to keep Americans connected by offering unlimited data, more Wi-Fi hotspots in their area and waiving late fees.

AT&T

AT&T is offering self installation options when it's available. It's the most convenient option available and is easy to do with their set up guide. If you need professional installation for any reason, all AT&T installers make every effort to install and or repair what they can without entering your home.

Charter Spectrum

Charter Spectrum does and always has had a self installation option. You can either have the equipment sent to your home within two to five business days or you can pick up your equipment from one of their retail locations. You also have the option to buy your own Spectrum compatible modem to set up. The equipment is easy to set up, however Spectrum does have a technical team that can lend a hand over the phone if you need it. Spectrum is also offering professional installation again with heavy COVID-19 safety precautions for employees and subscribers. All Spectrum installers must wear face masks and practice social distancing regardless of vaccination status. They also disinfect equipment regularly and do a self health assessment before entering any subscriber's home.

CenturyLink

With CenturyLink you can choose self installation and your equipment will arrive at your home the day of or the day before your internet service is scheduled to start. You can also choose to purchase and use your own equipment as long as it is compatible with CenturyLink internet. If you prefer not to go with self installation, CenturyLink technicians are doing in-home professional installations right now. They are provided with disinfectant supplies and are mandated to follow social distancing guidelines when an in home visit is absolutely necessary.

Comcast Xfinity

Comcast Xfinity does have a self installation option that their subscribers can choose and the details remain the same. Any equipment you need can be shipped to your home with easy installation instructions included in the box. You can still provide your own equipment if you decide not to lease instead. Xfinity technicians are offering professional installation again, but your household may not be eligible. It's only open to certain locations for very specific services and these decisions are made by employees in the area. If the professional installation option is made available to you, you will be required to wear a face mask for the entire visit and maintain a 10 feet distance away regardless of vaccination status.

Cox Communications

If you decide to subscribe to Cox Communications internet, self installation is the way to go. While Cox is allowing technicians to enter homes and businesses again, it is by a severely limited case by case basis. They will however walk you through their self installation process with their Easy Connect program and a live video chat. You can also choose to purchase your own equipment as long as you choose a Cox Communications compatible modem.

Frontier Communications

Frontier Communications now has self installation kits that you can order and be shipped to your home. It's complete with all the equipment you need and easy to follow directions. You can also find your own Frontier compatible modem and install it yourself as well. If you prefer to not to take advantage of the self install option, Frontier technicians are entering homes for professional installation again with very strict safety precautions to protect their employees and their subscribers. They wear protective equipment and maintain social distancing at all times. Subscribers will also be required to wear a face mask at all times when their technicians are present.

Verizon FiOS

If you're a lucky customer who already has all the necessary indoor wiring for Verizon FiOS, self installation is easy. All you need to do is follow the enclosed instructions in your Verizon self installation kit. If you don't have all the necessary indoor wiring, Verizon may offer you professional installation. Unfortunately they're not offering professional installation to everyone and it may be some time before they do. In the meantime, Verizon will provide a technician assisted option to help you get connected safety.
