Their chance to finally rekindle their romance and actually live their days out together is finally upon them, and in an effort to convince Marlena (Deirdre Hall) how much he means it when he says his focus is entirely on her, John (Drake Hogestyn) will pull out all the stops on Days of Our Lives.  

Chad Is Questioned About Serena's Murder

Since his return to town last year the two have had a series of obstacles pop up and threaten to get in their way. Starting with John being in a near-death coma after Theresa (Jen Lilley) hit him in the head with a fireplace poker, things only continued to get intense for the couple. After John woke up from the coma, he learned that Paul (Christopher Sean) was his long lost son -- which caused tension when he realized Marlena knew the secret but didn't tell him. Then, Marlena was briefly kidnapped by Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) and almost killed herself because of her role in Kristen's shocking death in Italy.  

However, the two have yet again managed to find their way back to one another, and just one thing continues to threaten standing in their way -- John's work with the ISA. Marlena is still concerned that he will abandon her for a secret mission again, something he has sworn he won't do. Now, in an effort to convince her that he means it, he will take her down an emotional and romantic walk down memory lane to remind her of how much she means to him.

However, any goodwill fostered by his gesture could soon be knocked out, after the ISA does call him and request his immediate departure from Salem to work on yet a new mission.
