Although many felt Hayley's comments were out of line, the newest addition to The Real Housewives of Orange County did not, and told her followers on Twitter she and husband Jim were "proud" of Hayley for standing up for their family.

After seeing the fan's response to Hayley's tweet, Edmonds shared the following message:

While Edmonds also tweeted to Hayley, telling her she'd always have her back, many fans were astounded that she would support her step-daughter's hateful comments to Gunvalson. Below are a few of their reactions:
