Ashley Judd may be getting ready to run in the upcoming 2014 race for the Senate in Kentucky.

During a recent interview on Ora TV, the actress's mother, Naomi Judd, talked to Larry King about her daughter's possible decision to enter the world of politics.

"OK, here's the deal. As of right now, she doesn't know," Judd told King on his web-show on Monday. "I can tell you she's very interested in changing the world. And she knows that politics unfortunately right now is one of the ways she could do that. But I made her promise that if she should make a decision, that I'm the first to know."

If Judd, a democrat, did decide to run in the 2014 race she would be taking on Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell for his seat.

Last year, Judd was allegedly looking into what would be required of her if she did want to pursue a career in politics. She reportedly met with New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in December about the possible bid and started conducting opposition research.

"She is doing all the things that a serious candidate exploring a race should do," Rep. John Yarmuth told Politico about Judd's political activities. "I there are a lot of people, and I was one of them, who wanted to let her know that her candidacy would be an exciting prospect for us. That's what I wanted her to know. A lot of the labor unions, they were telling me that too."

So far there has been no word from Judd's representatives on the matter of her potential political move. There was previous acknowledgement that she was "very honored" by the consideration but she did not confirm that she did not have future plans for running.

The 44-year-old actress has a long history with her home state as she is an eighth-generation Kentuckian.
