FX has renewed American Horror Story for its sixth season, so let's get some ideas flowing for the new concept!

Is There More Behind The Male Stars Of 'American Horror Story: Hotel' Looking The Same?

American Horror Story will return next year for a sixth installment, as announced by FX today.

"From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX's highest rated show -- while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity," FX president John Landgraf said in a statement. "This is even more remarkable because Ryan [Murphy] and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver."

Julia Roberts Reveals Why She Didn't Join 'American Horror Story'

American Horror Story has covered a huge variety of horror tropes and concepts over the years, including ghosts and haunted houses in Murder House, psychological torture, religion and aliens in Asylum, witches and monsters in Coven, disfigurement and clowns in Freak Show and now creepy hotels and vampirism in Hotel.

So where will they go next? Here are our top five ideas for season 6 of American Horror Story:

American Horror Story: Cult

The concept of a cult that makes its members do unspeakable things is right up AHS's alley. You could have evil cult leaders and innocent victims, while also making commentary on religion and referencing real-life cults. Wouldn't Kathy Bates make a terrifying cult leader?

American Horror Story: Camp

A camp concept would bring back the youthful energy of Coven. A summer camp where anything could go wrong makes the possibilities endless. There are many movies to be drawn upon, including Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp and more. This could see the return of Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Jamie Brewer and other younger stars.

American Horror Story: Woodlands

This title comes from karlpfeiffer.wordpress.com and we think it's too brilliant to not include. There is so much mystery and unknown hidden in the darkness of the woods that this concept would be perfect for AHS. There could be references to The Blair Witch Project, Antichrist, Cabin Fever and The Cabin in the Woods. Picture a psychotic-looking Denis O'Hare as a crazed killer running through the woods. Terrifying.

American Horror Story: Demons

We've seen The Devil in Asylum and Papa Legba in Coven, but a fully demon-heavy season has yet to be made. All sorts of creepy demons could run amok, with Sarah Paulson's character trying to find the source of where they came from and how to stop them from taking over the world.

American Horror Story: Aliens

Murphy has said they won't be doing a space concept, but there is a possible loophole. What if the series partially adapted The Twilight Zone episode The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street and featured a quiet 1950s suburb or town erupting into paranoia and chaos with the possibility of one of their neighbors being an alien? And as it turns out, aliens are indeed invading but not in a way they expect?

Murphy and company have not yet revealed the concept for season 6, but we think the possibilities are endless considering the amount of horror genres out there. What do you think? Like any of our concepts? Have your own suggestion? Leave a comment below.

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on FX.
