Julia Roberts refuses to appear on FX's American Horror Story, despite her working relationship with Ryan Murphy.

Lady Gaga's 'American Horror Story' Makeup Secrets Revealed

Roberts has starred in two of Murphy's films, Eat Pray Love and The Normal Heart, but she will not participate in American Horror Story. The award-winning actress spoke with E! News recently and explained her aversion to the horror anthology series.

"I'll tell you why-because I can't even get though the commercials," Roberts admitted. "I am the most fitful scaredy cat. When the first American Horror Story came out, remember the first poster? I said to him, 'OK, I curse you. I stop at a traffic light and I have to look at that thing on billboards. It gives me the willies. What is that? What is going on? What have you done?'"

Roberts recalled, "Ryan was like, 'Oh, lady - you won't even get through the commercials.' I'm like, there's no way."

American Horror Story has attracted some top-notch talent over the years, from legendary actresses like Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett to noted character actors like Frances Conroy and Denis O'Hare. Even Roberts' niece Emma Roberts has starred in a pair of seasons! But while Julia always supports her niece, it isn't exactly easy for her.

"I try to support my Emma, but I don't like it," she admitted.

Sounds like we won't be seeing the A-lister on a future season of American Horror Story, though Emma will reportedly come back to the show near the end of Hotel.

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
