The American actor's British girlfriend, Tamsin Egerton, recently gave birth to their bundle of joy in London at St. Mary's Hospital, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

The publication obtained pictures of the couple exiting the hospital Monday, with Egerton sporting a glow and comfy clothing. Hartnett, according to the report, appeared very protective of Egerton and their newborn child.

The couple is said to have first met on set of The Lovers in 2010, but their romance didn't blossom until in 2012.

In July, the 37-year-old's representatives dished to E! News that he and the British actress were expecting their first child by the end of this year.

Egerton recently celebrated her 27th birthday on Nov. 26 and the exact date of the birth of her child with Hartnett is not presently known, but speculation is that the child was born at the end of November.

There is also no word thus far about the child's sex or name, which is not really surprising since Hartnett tends to keep his personal life very private.

"I purposefully didn't want people to know too much about my personal life because I think a lot of people give it away for free," he told USA Today in May while promoting Penny Dreadful and discussing other things.

"I think if you spend too much time courting people's attention into your personal life, you lose your ownership of it. That's why I make sure my life is my own. I was not a dumb kid. I was a little bit wary of this business. I saw what it could do to people pretty quickly," Hartnett admitted.
