Former "X Factor" judge Britney Spears is very close to signing a long-term contract to headline a show at a Las Vegas resort, according to Reuters.

Caesar Entertainment Corp. spokeswoman Emily Woffard said Friday the company is in negotiations to install the 31-year-old pop singer on the Las Vegas strip.

"We can now confirm the company is actively engaged in discussions with Britney Spears' representatives regarding a potential headlining residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino," the company said in a statement.

The past few months have been rough for the mother-of-two when she officially quit her job as a judge on the X Factors on Jan.11, despite rumors that she was going to be soon fired. "I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio," she said in a statement.

The "Hit Me Baby One More Time" singer may be getting back in the studio sooner than expected. "We are in deep negotiations and I'd shocked if it didn't happen. Hoping to have a deal done very soon," Spears' manager Larry Rudolph said in a statement.

Caesars Entertainment, which owns casinos and resorts including Planet Hollywood, has hired some of the world's top-selling artists for residencies at various Las Vegas sites, including singers Celine Dion and Elton John.

The pop princess hopes to follow in the footsteps of Dion who has a three-year deal with Caesars Palace that is said to be worth $100 million.

Spears is preparing a major comeback after a few brutal years in her life when she entered rehab, shaved her head bald, and lost her children in custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline,
