Aubrey (John Boyd) will be involved in the big Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) arc planned for the upcoming second half of Bones' 11th season.

Will Hodgins & Angela Cause 'Different Sides' To Form On 'Bones'?

Fans will recall that in the Bones midseason finale, Aubrey helped move Hodgins out of the way of the explosion to prevent certain death. And while Hodgins will ultimately become paralyzed, Aubrey will help him gain some perspective in the second half of the season.

Bones executive producer Michael Peterson spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently about the Hodgins arc and how Aubrey will factor into it.

'Bones' Star Weighs In On Renewal Possibility: 'We've Got More To Say'

"Aubrey's going to be integral to the Hodgins arc. Certainly, he knows that he is the one who threw him out of the way. There is some guilt going on, but mostly Aubrey is practical enough that he knows that if he hadn't done this, Hodgins would be dead," Peterson explained. "And that is the most important lesson. It stinks to have to go through something like this, but life is precious. Yes, if you have a drawback or a handicap, that can be difficult for a time, but you can also find ways to make it a blessing. Eventually, he will be instrumental in helping Hodgins gain perspective. You allow the person to have those grieving moments, but at the exact same time, he's alive, surrounded by friends. Life is good still."

The series will pick up about two months after the events of the midseason finale. Peterson promised that the emotional arc that lies ahead for Hodgins will be something the characters won't necessarily expect.

Bones season 11 still does not have an announced return date on Fox.
