Janet Jackson, who was rumored to be planning a wedding with Qatar billionaire Wissam Al Mana, released a statement on Monday saying that the couple already wed.

Jackson, 46, revealed the news but not before addressing the rumor that they were planning an "extravagant" wedding.

"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," Jackson told Entertainment Tonight. "Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony."

The youngest sister of the late Michael Jackson added that she and her husband, the managing director of a retailer that represents A/X Armani Exchange, donated to charity in lieu of giving each other traditional wedding gifts.

"Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities," she added. "We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet"

A source told Us Weekly that Al Mana gave the Control singer a "huge, expensive ring." Janet has not been seen wearing the ring in public because it is so huge she is "afraid it will get lost, so she keeps it locked up," said the source, adding that the couple was secretly planning a wedding that will "cost millions" in Qatar.

Al Mana, a 37-year-old luxury branding mogul, was reportedly going to take care of all of the accommodations for her closest friends and family on their special day.

"He is flying in all of Janet's friends and family on private jets," the source explained, adding that he also "wants to get a top chef to create a custom menu."

With so many people expected to attend, another source said the planning of the rumored nuptials became "a circus."

This is the third marriage for Janet. She ended her last relationship with music producer Jermaine Dupri in 2009 and was previously wed to James DeBarge and Rebe Elizondo. Janet also kept those marriages hidden from the public.
