Adele performed the James Bond theme song Skyfall at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, marking her return to stage after a hiatus to focus on her personal life.

The song, from the soundtrack of the 2012 007 film with the same name, was nominated Sunday for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, the latter giving Adele her first ever Oscar nomination and win. The 24-year-old already won a Grammy Award and a BRIT Award for the song earlier in the year.

Adele returned to the stage to perform on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles after time away from the microphone in which she had a son with her boyfriend Simon Konecki. Upon receiving her first Oscar on Sunday, Adele said "Thank you so much, this is amazing!" before paying tribute to Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and others involved in the making of the film. She then thanked her boyfriend and said, "And my man, I love you baby."

Other performers on Sunday were Barbara Streisand, Nora Jones and Shirley Bassey. Jones performed the Oscar-nominated song Everybody Needs a Best Friend from the film Ted. Streisand's performance was only the second time she had sung at the awards show and Bassey made her Oscars debut in a special tribute honoring the 50th anniversary of the Bond film series.

The film Skyfall was nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. For the sixth time in Academy Awards history there was a tie: the award for Best Sound Editing went to both Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty

Nominees for the Saturn Awards were announced Monday and the Bond film received seven nominations, one less than Ang Lee's Life of Pi.
