Today (April 4) marks the 8th wedding anniversary for Beyonce & Jay Z! And while they are nearly ten years in, we’re just now finding out some of the details about what went down on their big day.

For starters, they got their marriage license in Scarsdale, New York before tying the knot. Once they did get to the ceremony, there were only forty invited guests. They definitely kept it secretive and opted out of having a luxurious venue and splurged on Jay Z’s penthouse in Tribeca. It's 13,500 square feet, so it’s safe to say there was more than enough room to spruce up the place for a wedding, Essence magazine revealed Monday.

One guest who went said, “It was a very emotional wedding—lots of crying—and really very spiritual.”

While they had forty guests, they also didn’t have any bridesmaids, groomsmen or best men and so on, as they decided not to have a bridal party at all.

Still, she didn’t skimp out on the decorations as she had 70,000 of her favorite flowers, white dendrobium orchids, transported all the way from Thailand. Unlike many of their celebrity friends, they didn’t have a famous performer at the reception but rather enjoyed hip hop and R&B music.

But they definitely kept the party going until the wee hours of the morning. The reception didn’t end until 5am on April 5.

To make sure that their privacy was tainted, they kindly asked their guests not to bring their cell phones.
