It was hard to keep up with all of the feuds that played out on TV One’s The Next 15 reality series. But one thing is for sure: Tiffany “New York” Pollard set Laura Govan straight when Govan’s statement about skin tone resurfaced during the reunion special for the debut season of the show.

Govan joked earlier this season with Jennifer Williams that she wished more “light skinned people” would be cast on the show. While Govan definitely got her fill of backlash from Internet rolls, New York kept it going when the ladies came face-to-face at the reunion.

Govan said, “That was to be funny. All of us are light skinned. So it had nothing to do with nothing. I thought it was funny you didn’t think it was funny. [Forget] you keep it moving. Alright cool, next.”

Karamo Brown said he wasn’t bothered by Govan’s comment because he has gotten to know her personality. But New York made it clear she was bothered.

“She’s not even Black,” she said. That’s when Govan and Brown pointed out that her father is African American.

New York said, “I don’t care. I don’t care about that. When I heard that comment I did have to pause. But then I had to do dig deeper and know who I was as an African American woman and say [I don’t care] what she wants to see on the panel. I’m here. As brown as I am. As Black and as beautiful as I am. And if I rip this hair off yes I do have naps. And it’s okay.”

New York wasn’t the only one “offended” by the comment.
