Fox host Bill O'Reilly discussed the Supreme Court gay marriage hearing on his show on March 26 and said he is more convinced by the equality arguments.

He said on his show that the compelling argument is "on the side of homosexuals."

"That's where the compelling argument is. 'We're Americans. We just want to be treated like everybody else.' That's a compelling argument, and to deny that, you have got to have a very strong argument on the other side. The argument on the other side hasn't been able to do anything but thump the Bible," he said.

On his segment he added that a poll showed the majority of Americans favor gay marriage. Footage was shown on his segment of protests in Washington, D.C. for and against gay marriage, which were more tame than the protests in France which have lead to police using tear gas on protesters.

O'Reilly said on his show he isn't particularily too strongly for or against gay marriage and believes it should decided by the states. "New York has [gay marriage] now. I live in New York, New York has it, I'm fine with it. I want all Americans to be happy, I do," he said.

The Hollywood Reporter explained that Republican Senator Rob Portman favored gay marriage a week ago, and he was a one-time sponsor of the Defensive Marriage Act, which is signed by Bill Clinton. The full segment can be seen here

On his show, O'Reilly said that Clinton regrets signing it now that he's not president. "You're a phony, Bill Clinton. You're a phony. It's the same exact issue. Same thing, all right. You signed it because you though it was going to be popular, and now that it's not so popular, you're against it. This is what sleazy politicians do."
