"The Bible" actor Diogo Morgado, who portrays Jesus in the History Channel hit TV Series, said he feels embarrassed that the Twitter hashtag #HotJesus was created after him.

During an interview on Good Morning America on Thursday, Morgado, who is from Portugal, was asked how he felt about women referring to his good looks on Twitter.

"It's official. I am embarrassed," Morgado said.

Morgado is a famous television and film actor in Portugal but before he appeared on History Channel's "The Bible" series he was virtually unknown.

"Diogo's portrayal is really touching people's live, is inspiring and is hopeful. People are hungry for hope," producer Roma Downey who also stars in the TV show as Mary, the mother of Jesus said in the interview on GMA.

This is not the first time that he addressed the hashtag #HotJesus. Earlier this month he told USA Today:

"I take the [Hot Jesus] nickname as a compliment obviously, but I'm waiting for the good stuff, and the good stuff for me is if someone just nabbed me on the shoulder and said 'look you did a pretty good job."

"Something like this more than anything, something like playing Jesus, for me, if only I can have one person go straight to me and say 'you touched me, and you brought me something I thought I'd lost,' that would be my best compliment," he added.
