The road to the highly-anticipated release of Battlefield 1 is a proving to be a pretty awesome path for fans, as EA and DICE just confirmed that Battlefield 4's popular DLC, Final Stand, would be offered for free until May 24. The special deal is offered to gamers across all platforms, which means that fans using the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC are all included in the promotion.

Battlefield 4 Final Stand is one of the series' more prominent DLCs, selling pretty well despite the main game being released years prior. Normally priced at $15 on its own, or included in the $50 Battlefield 4 Premium Pass, Final Stand includes four pretty cool maps, Operation Whiteout, Hammerhead, Hangar 21 and Giants of Karelia.

What's particularly interesting about Final Stand's maps is the fact that all of the DLC's featured arenas are set in winter. Weapons-wise, Final Stand is also quite rife with a number of interesting firearms and gadgets, such as the DS-3 DECOY, an attachment to firearms that emits false blips on enemies' mini-maps. The DLC also features the XD-1 Accipiter, a very useful remote-controlled LMG-equipped drone.

Though the free release of the DLC has been lauded by many, there were also a number of players, many of which bought the expansion pack with is regular price, who were a bit aggravated by EA and DICE's decision to offering the expansion pack for free. After all, even days before the promotion, there were still those who were buying the expansion pack for $15 in the gaming platforms' respective online stores.

Nevertheless, the free offer for Battlefield 4 Final Stand serves as yet another token of appreciation from both EA and DICE on the firm's road to Battlefield 1. Prior to the special offer for Final Stand, EA and DICE also offered other Battlefield 4 DLCs for free, such as Dragon's Teeth from May 3 to 10. Battlefield Hardline's Robbery expansion was also free during the same period.

If things continue at their current pace, the road to Battlefield 1 will indeed be filled with very content and grateful fans.
