Christina Aguilera has made it a point to teach her children respect.

As she juggles her mommy duties with her engagement to Matt Rutler and her gig on The Voice, Aguilera is opening up about her kids, 8-year-old son Max and 1-year-old daughter Summer Rain.

“[I’m] trying to be an example and speaking up about it,” Aguilera told Entertainment Tonight’s Sophie Schillaci of respect on Monday. “Men have run the world for a while and this is the reason we don’t have another female coach because the odds are always kind of against us.”

Throughout The Voice's 10 seasons, there has been just one female coach each season while the men have come in threes.

“Next year though, finally, [we’ll have] two women together,” Aguilera pointed out, noting the addition of Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. “Kick their a**es, girls!”

According to Aguilera, she finds it extremely important to raise Max to “respect women.”

“I tell him sometimes after a hard day’s work, I’m like, ‘Babe, always be respectful of women. Please! Mama’s going through it,’” Aguilera said. “But he’s just great, actually. He’s really great... I think it’s important ‘cause I grew up seeing my mom feel so disempowered by a lot of the abuse that she endured at my dad’s hands. I’m always trying to be a voice for women.”

As for the conclusion of The Voice season 10, Aguilera hopes to get her first win with contestant Alisan Porter.

“Of course there’s added pressure, but we’re laughing our way through it and just being like, you know what, we already won because we know each other now,” Aguilera said. “She can’t get rid of me!”
