While there's no doubting that George Clooney is definitely a very smart man, who knew he was bilingual, too? The Hollywood actor showed off his very impressive Italian skills right before he and his wife Amal Clooney had the honor to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican this past week.

On Wednesday, George and Amal headed to the Vatican after spending a glamorous week in Cannes. The actor--who has long been rumored to be thinking about dabbling in politics one day--was awarded a medal by the pontiff himself for his work in promoting Pope Francis' educational foundation, Scholas Occurrentes.

As Vogue magazine pointed out George, who spends plenty of his free time at his home in Lake Como, spoke to reporters in Italian by greeting them with "Buona Sera," and then apologizing in fluent Italian for his "no molto bene."

He then praised the Pope's education foundation by saying, "The one thing that we know is that hatred and bigotry have to be taught. We aren't born this way. And the fact that Pope Francis and all of you are involving people at such a young age in the schools, the idea that inclusion is the only way we're going to make it, that to me is what is so spectacular about what you all are doing."
