Gretchen Rossi, Slade Smiley Wedding: 'RHOC' Proposal Fake? [VIDEO]

Was Gretchen Rossi's proposal a reality television hoax? During season eight, Rossi was seen proposing to Slade Smiley after several years of dating, but still, they haven't wed and show no signs of any plans to do so.

According to a new report, Bravo recently aired a Real Housewives of Orange County special and in it, the possibility of a staged proposal was discussed.

"I remember having a conversation with Gretchen and I said to her, ‘You're not doing anything. You've got nothing going on with your life. You have no kids, you're not married,' and lo and behold she came up with this big plan to propose to Slade," Tamra Judge said in a clip from the show, via E! News.

Meanwhile, executive producer Andy Cohem added, "Gretchen and Slade had always toyed with the idea of getting engaged... It just seemed like the proposal was all tied into the show."

As for how Rossi feels about the idea of a fake proposal, she claimed that was not at all the case.

"Absolutely, 100 percent... No," she said through tears. "I wasn't going to do something just for TV. I wasn't going to do something just to make money."

Last September, after Rossi and Smiley delayed their plans to wed for a second time, a source claimed the reality couple would eventually wed.

“They are definitely still getting married and are very much in love,” a source told Radar Online. “Why else would they do Marriage Bootcamp together? The reason that the wedding has been postponed so many times is not because they have doubts that they are meant to be together, but because they are both working on a lot of projects right now.”

“Gretchen just launched a purse line and she and Slade are pitching several different ideas to various networks for projects that have them both on camera and behind-the-scenes,” said the source. “They want to get all of this stuff ironed out before entering into a marriage, but the wedding is inevitably happening.”

“Lately they have been getting a lot of pressure from their close friends to do it already. Gretchen cannot wait to be Slade’s wife and, when the time is right, they will have their huge lavish wedding,” the insider added. “This is what they both want.”
