Dragon Ball Super Episode 47 certainly did not disappoint, raising the stakes and showing fans of the franchise the beginnings of what seems like a very intricate and dark story. Indeed, from the first episode alone, two main characters have died, and the entire human population from the future has already been wiped out.

Of course, after such an intense episode, the teaser for Episode 48 was shown. From what could be seen so far, Episode 48 would feature Trunks finally being back in the present and Goku and Vegeta gearing up to battle Black Goku. Apart from this, present-day Trunks is also shown in shock as he faces his future self, who seems half-dead due to injuries from his fight in the future.

With the rabid intensity of Episode 47, several fans of Dragon Ball Super are speculating that Episode 48 would be a somewhat calmer episode. Most probably, the upcoming episode would most probably feature a huge amount of character and plot-building, setting the stage for the massive battle that is to come.

What is particularly interesting about the current arc in the anime is the fact that its main villain still remains a mystery until now. Though Black Goku's actual identity has not been revealed fully in the series so far, the fact that he killed Bulma and Mai in cold blood without flinching on the first episode of the arc is something very notable.

If any, Black Goku seems to be the perfect character to make Dragon Ball Super into one of the best Dragon Ball titles that have been released over the last few decades. After all, the previous arcs of the series so far have been lambasted for being rehashes and stories with very little being at stake.

With the current arc, however, Dragon Ball Super seems to finally be going in the right direction. At least, the current arc seems to be far more serious than the previous ones, and if there is something that Dragon Ball fans are unanimous about, it is the fact that a certain degree of seriousness is exactly what the anime needs right now.
