Lauri Peterson's son has been charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Following a shooting on Monday, former Real Housewives of Orange County star Josh Waring is behind bars, and not expected to be released anytime soon.

"The Orange County district attorney's office Wednesday filed three counts of attempted murder against Joshua Waring, son of former 'Real Housewives of Orange County' star Lauri Peterson, in connection with a shooting early Monday in Costa Mesa," the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday.

"Waring, 27, also faces possible sentencing enhancements on allegations of personal use of a firearm and inflicting great bodily injury, according to the criminal complaint filed in Orange County Superior Court," the outlet explained.

Following news of the incident, Peterson's former co-star, Vicki Gunvalson, spoke out.

“I reached out to Lauri this morning when I heard the news, and let her know I am here for her if she needs anything,” Gunvalson told Radar Online on Tuesday. “As a mother myself, I can’t imagine how difficult this is for her."

While the details surrounding what led up to the shooting remain under investigation, a neighbor recently spoke out, detailing their side of the story.

“At about 1:30 am my husband was still awake and heard people out in the street screaming and cussing,” a woman who lives nearby where the incident took place explained. “He came back in and just said he wasn’t going to deal with this.”

Peterson, who quit her role on The Real Housewives of Orange County years ago, adopted Waring's daughter, Kennedy, last year.

"As most of the viewers know, I have a son and he's had just a lot of challenges. And he and his wife had a baby almost three years ago. He's really struggling and, well, they're both really struggling. And so [my husband] George and I elected to help out and we actually adopted Kennedy, and so we're raising her," Peterson told The Daily Dish in Oct. 2015. "It's been such a great experience because this is helping them out and hopefully they can get their lives together and be OK."

"It was long conversations because George is at a time where he's thinking of winding down his business and we really wanted to travel the world and put that 'Gone fishing' sign on our door and be gone," she continued. "But this my first granddaughter and she's precious and she's smart and she's beautiful and she needed somebody."
