Bethenny Frankel underwent surgery to remove fibroids, and tonight, she will be seen recovering on The Real Housewives of New York City.

Earlier this year, Frankel's mysterious illness, which was first teased during the Bravo series' season eight trailer, was confirmed.

"Bethenny had to have fibroids removed because of concern it wasn't taken out, she would develop cancer. The surgery was supposed to be very easy, but Bethenny did suffer from excessive bleeding afterward," In Touch Weekly revealed in March. "It was a scary time for Bethenny and made her realize there was no close family in her life to help with the recovery."

"Estranged from her mother for years and going through a bitter divorce to estranged husband Jason Hoppy, there aren't a lot of people in her life that she can rely on. It's sad that Bethenny's paid staff helped to take care of her in the days after the surgery," the source added.

After going under the knife to have her fibroids removed, Frankel spoke of her surgery and recovery.

"It's kind of brutal. I didn't realize it," Frankel said during an appearance on Good Morning America, via The Daily Dish. "I feel good. I think the way that you recover is really important, the way that you take care of yourself and drink more water," she said. "And everyone thinks because I have a brand called Skinnygirl, I'm all focused on health all the time, and I'm not. I'm stressed, I'm a mom, just like anyone else."

"I definitely had a lot of anxiety just as a mother just going under and having to have a living will. It was very stressful," she explained. "I'm not really good at being the patient, the victim, the weak one, and so it was challenging on the show, and some of the girls were really supportive. It was really amazing."

"The rest of my life is really good. I feel happier than I have in such a long time. I've had such a difficult road in certain areas. I'm so blessed with my daughter and my career, but I've had a difficult couple of years, and my personal life is really good," she continued. "I feel like I'm coming out on the other side."
