Outlander has a tall order to fill. The finale is days away, and not only does the adaptation have to do justice to the infamous Battle of Culloden, but the series also has the hefty burden of introducing a grownup Brianna Fraser.

For months, fans clamored for casting news regarding Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) 20th century daughter. Outlander revealed Sophie Skelton as the redheaded legacy before season 2 premiere, but viewers will have to wait until the eleventh hour to see her take the screen. Paired with Roger (Richard Rankin), the future couple will make their debut in "Dragonfly in Amber."

They're very tricky roles to cast, especially when you're casting the adult child of two of our leads," showrunner Ron Moore told Entertainment Weekly. "You want to see both characters in her immediately, which is a big challenge, just in terms of who that actress is going be. She also has to play, literally, the daughter of Claire in the 13th episode. And she has to have a certain chemistry with Roger."

Hopefully book readers will take to Skelton quickly, particularly since the writers will have tweaked a few of Diana Gabaldon's scenes for the screen. Fans can expect one such change to hit during Claire and Bree's upcoming row.

"We're very mindful of the mass of loyal book fans," writer Matthew B. Roberts told TV Insider. "We try to give them what they want, just not how they expect it."

Catch the season 2 finale this Saturday at 10 p.m. ET on Starz. As Claire prepares to leave Jamie and 18 th century Scotland behind, an older version of the Sassenach will return to the Highlands once more. Click the video below to see a preview for July 9's "Dragonfly in Amber."
