Katherine was on the dance team in high school and had big dreams before she met her 26-year-old Islamic husband, who is now accused with his brother of killing three and injured more than 140 at the Boston Marathon on April 15.

Those close to her told Daily Mail Katherine was "totally transformed" by Tamerlan. In high school her motto was "Do something about it or stop complaining," and she dreamed of going to college and joining the Peace Corps. She urged her friends to "lighten up and enjoy the small things in life."

At the age of 21 Katherine was already married to Tamerlan and had his child, a girl named Zahara who is now 3. She converted to Islam and was photographed over the weekend in front of her house wearing a hijab. She rushed into the house to grab some belongings before she drove away in a white Volvo with her daughter and another woman.

One school friend told the publication Katherine was "an all-American girl who was brainwashed" by her husband. She has since been staying with her parents at their home in Rhode Island. Her parents have resided in the property, which comes with three bedrooms and 0.74 acres of land for 14 years. See photos of the home here.

Katherine is one of girls. Her and her two sisters, Anna and Becca, grew up in the North Kingston, R.I. home. Suffolk University confirmed to reporter Ted Nesi of WPRI-TV 12 that Katherine was a student at the school from fall 2007-spring 2010, but she did not graduate.
