The Columbus Zoo recently named a colobus monkey after the scientist character on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory.

The monkey, named after Dr. Sheldon Cooper was born on March 3, Yahoo reported.

Sheldon was born to mother, Claire and father, Radi, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Colobus monkeys are all white at birth, and their coloring turns at about 6 months of age. Although Sheldon is a little over a month old, the report stated that his coloring has already started to change.

According to a spokeswoman, the zoo staff choose names of the animals based on themes, and decided to name the monkey Sheldon because they are fans of the show, Yahoo stated.

Sheldon was the first of four recent births for the zoo’s African forest exhibits

The month began with the birth of a black duiker, a four-legged, forest-dwelling animal. The duiker is part of the antelope family and is found in certain sections of African. The baby was about 3 1/2 pounds at birth, and it is not known if the baby is male or female, according to The Dispatch.

Following were the births of two red river hogs, born April 12. The piglets are the first offspring for 2-year-old mother, Harriet, and 5-year-old father, Harold, and, based on the report, they are being kept off the exhibit for now while their mother cares for them.
